"Not Forgotten"
by J.J.

As I stand here in silence
upon this solemn ground
I take just a moment
to stop and look around
I see my Brothers
with their heads bowed down

I see the tears upon each face
and feel the pain
that has brought us to this place
We've come to pay respect
to all the names on the wall
And to the ones who are not home
to share this with us all

They've been missed so many times
but not forgotten in our minds
As some names are read
I hear my Brother start to cry
I put my arm around him
to help ease his pain inside

He's never cried outside before
cause he had too much pride
He said a prayer to God
then steps aside
He stops and turns to me to say
"I DON'T DO THIS"
the tears still streaming down his face

I wrap my arms around him
and tell him it's okay
That's why I've come with you
to help you through this day
As I look I see his tears
running down my vest
You see, I know and understand the pain
that put him to this test

So, as I hold my Brother
my heart tells me why we're here
To HONOR and show our LOVE
To ALL OF THOSE our Hearts still hold so dear
