by Stephen Schneider Consider a boy who was sent to die.
Whose life was meant to free a land.
Close your eyes and see his face:
In his eyes - courage and fear. He will go, not because he must;Brave, brave boy.
But because he should.
Consider a boy who was sent to kill.
Who would fight to protect his land.
Close your eyes and see his face:
In his eyes - murder and innocence. He will kill, not because he hates;Good, good boy.
But because he loves.
Consider a boy who was sent to trust.
Who never questioned his land.
Close your eyes and see his face:
In his eyes - confusion and faith. He will obey, not because he understands;Young, young boy.
But because he believes.
Consider a boy who was lost in battle,
Taken prisoner in a hostile land.
Close your eyes and see his face:
In his eyes - desperation and hope. He will hold on, not because he hopes to be rescued;Poor, poor boy.
But because he knows he will be.
Consider a man who was left behind.
Forgotten by the land he loves.
Close your eyes and see his face:
If you dare!
