HANOI, Vietnam (AP) - Veterans said Monday they are pushing
legislation that would allocate $1.5 million for studies in Vietnam
on the effects of the toxic defoliant Agent Orange. "We're asking
Congress to release funds from the National Institute of Health to
bring in scientists to work with your scientists to get needed
information to know how to deal with this issue," Thomas H. Corey,
vice president of the Vietnam Veterans of America, said to a group of
Vietnamese veterans in Hanoi. He said he hopes legislation will be
introduced in both the Senate and the House of Representatives within
a month.
