The Dallas, Texas Vietnam Memorial

The Daughters of the American Revolution [ DAR ] in Dallas, Texas, erected a Vietnam Memorial. The memorial is located in Fair Park, near the DAR House, on a plot east of First, just south of Parry Street. You can follow the red DAR signs within the park.

The site consists of 5 stone constructs. Four are arranged parallel to each other. The inner 2 have names on both sides while the outer 2 have names only on the side facing inward. Offset to the northwest of these is the final piece, which is a 'Missing in Action' memorial.

The inscription on this stone reads:

MISSING IN ACTION
IN THE HARSH REALITY OF WAR
THE WOUNDS THAT RUN DEEPEST
ARE THE WOUNDS OF UNCERTAINTY.
THESE ARE THE WOUNDS THAT CANNOT HEAL.
FOR THESE TEXANS,
WE PRAY THAT THEIR FATES WILL BECOME KNOWN
AND THAT FOR THEIR FAMILIES, FRIENDS AND FELLOW VETERANS
THERE CAN FINALLY BE AN END.
THOUGH THEIR DESTINIES REMAIN UNKNOWN
THEIR HEROIC SERVICE TO THEIR COUNTRY WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN.

There is no history included as the author was unable to make contact with a representative of the DAR.  Research through the Internet, using multiple search engines, failed to find any page(s) with information concerning this memorial.  No pictures were available.  There is now a page for this memorial at:

It includes the information here and 2 pictures.
