Years of work has let to the development of Congressman Talent's (Chair House Committee on Small Business) Bi-Partisan Bill, The "Veterans Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Act of 1999". Likely to be introduced NEXT TUESDAY (4-27-99), WE NEED AS MANY ORIGIONAL CO-SPONSORS ON THIS BILL AS WE CAN GET BY 5PM NEXT MONDAY.
Among the things this Bill creates includes: A National Veterans Business Development Corporation; A permanent Advisory Committee to the SBA on Veterans Affairs; Special Entrepreneurial and SCORE Programs; Microloans and other loans, including for service disabled vet business owners; Procurement assistance and sub-contracting; Reporting requirements and specific vet participation in White House Conference on Small Business, etc.; Data Collection; And an Economic Injury Disaster Assistance Loan program for called up Reservists and National Guard members.
Additional Info can be gotten from Lindsey Neas of Cong. Talent's Staff (202-225-2561) or Rick Weidman at VVA 1-800-VVA-1316 X 127. This has been coming since the 1970s, the next couple days are critical. Make a call to your member and encourage their co-sponsorship.
Thanks,
