Sad News--The Passing of a True American Hero

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Colonel Ted Guy. All of you know that Col. Guy, a Vietnam Veteran and former PoW for 5 years, fought for the POW's with his heart and soul. He poured all of his strength and energy into the fight and into his webpages in order to inform and enlighten those of us who needed to know and understand the importance of never giving up. Col. Guy was the epitome of all that a true American Hero symbolizes. He never gave up. Let us keep the family in out thoughts and in our prayers.

Special Message From Dennis

Special Tribute
"Our Troops in Kosovo"

Thanks to Karl for the graphic.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Staff Sgt. Andrew Ramirez, Staff Sgt. James Stone, and Spec. Steven Gonzales. We would also like to extend those thoughts and prayers to the families of these three men until their home safe and reunited with their loved ones.

I would like to dedicate this month's issue of "The Moonduster Chronicles" to the troops in Kosovo. Coinciding with the observance of Easter and Passover this week, I would like everyone to remember those who are risking their lives and who cannot be with their famillies to celebrate the holidays. As we sit down at the dinner table with our families for the holiday celebrations, let us also remember those POW/MIA's who are unable to be with their families this year.

Kosovo: Prayer Honor Book
Please leave your prayers, thank-you's and well wishes in the Kosovo: Prayer Honor Book
for our American Armed Forces Personnel serving in or around Kosovo.
(Thank you Dennis for setting this up)

What Price Peace in Our Time?" - One Vet's Opinion
The following first appeared in the September issue of "The Moonduster Chronicles". In light of the recent events regarding Kosovo, I feel it deserves to be read again. Share this piece with others. It was written by one who has been there. Knowledge and experience go a long way.

Here is something else we can all do for Stone, Ramrirez, and Gonzales:
*"Yellow/Black Ribbon Campaign"

"There has been some confusion over the wearing of the "yellow ribbon" in recognition of Operation Just Cause. To prevent this, I have added a black ribbon and a small POW lapel pin to the yellow ribbon I wear. (see below) If you use 1/8" ribbon 1 3/4" long and one of the 1/2" POW pins, it is small and tasteful enough to be worn on a suit coat or with a tux. The small pins are available from The US Veteran's dispatch. Call 1-800-452-8906 for pricing and availability."

"If you can't get a POW logo pin, at least consider adding the black ribbon. A 5 yard roll of 1/8" ribbon is about a dollar so for two bucks, you can make up a hundred ribbons which you can pass out to friends and co-workers."
*(From a message sent by Gunny in the November 1998 issue of "The Moonduster Chronicles)

*Editor's Note
This tribute to the troops is not an opinion or a political view. It is simply a show of support for our troops, no matter where are are and what they are doing. It does not necessarily represent the views of Operation Just Cause, the Operation Just Cause Staff, or its members as a whole.

I am sorry I did not find the above website in time for last month's issue dedicated to the "Star-Spangled Banner". There is a lot of information and a timeline dedicated to our Flag.
It is part of the History Channel website.

Special Messages From Gunny

Later this week I will be posting a review in The Meadow

Click on 'reviews' of LtCol Robin Higgins' book Patriot Dreams. This is a book no one should miss. Robin has been a big supporter of OJC and her personal story is one of the most moving I have ever read. Please check back for the review.

While we remember the families of our unaccounted for heroes, lets' also remember the friends and families of the victims in the Colorado shooting. Be good to yourselves and to each other. You'll never regret it...Gunny

    Special Request From the Editor

Are you, or do you know of anyone who is a Vietnam Veteran living in or around the Philadelphia, PA area? I am looking for someone to speak to my daughter's American History class. She is a junior in high school and her history class will be doing a segment on the Vietnam War coming up in May.If you are interested or know of anyone who might be, please notiify me at NL@ojc.org    Thanks, B F Malone

"Each time a person stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others...he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance."   ...Robert Francis Kennedy (1925 - 1968)

There are ways for us to work together to start tearing down those 'mighty walls of oppression and resistance' and gain a full accountability of our POW/MIA's. Please feel free to browse through the following links to see what you can do to help.

Feel free to print out and distribute any or all parts of "The Moonduster Chronicles". There are those individuals without access to the Internet who might enjoy reading it. Prime examples of places frequented by veterans are VFW's and VA HealthCare Facilities. We may also have 'offline' friends who would want to adopt a POW/MIA, as a group or individually, that are unaware of Operation Just Cause.
