Operation Just Cause
...for as long as it takes

Unending War
by Willie D.

"I'm proud, my Son", I heard him say.
As I went out the door that day.
Cautiously smiling, willing to fight.
Apprehensive, but it's alright.
These people, you know... they have a need.
Our goal - to be sure, that they will live free.
I fought for people I did not know.
Often scared...which way do I go?
Hoped each day to have found,
That we had gained a little ground.
Watched in horror as children died.
Why, oh why...God, oh why?

Losing friends one after another.

Each one like my own brother.
Oh how I wish I could leave.
Too numb now to even grieve.
At last the time has come to go.
Don't remember ever feeling this low.
Can't wait to get back to the good ole States.
See family and friends...won't it be great.
My plane has landed..the time has come to arrive.
Thank the Lord, I'm alive!

"What?", I say, "how can it be?"

My own friends and family...
Turned their backs, filled with hate.
Is this what I fought for? Is this my fate?
The hurt is so deep, why can't they see?
The decision to fight was not made by me.
The hurt and the pain just get in the way,
of living my life day after day...
They are wrong... there is no end you see.
For the war goes on each day... for me.
