4th of July Remembrance

This 4th of July

when you sit at the
picnic table
and enjoy a beer
or sweet iced tea
and play ball
or horseshoes
and watch the fireworks
in the sky -

Please remember someone -
who sits alone, in chains,
and drinks a cup of lukewarm
water -
who plays no games
whose only fireworks are the
stars that he can see.

Think of him,

and remember
that Freedom isn't Free.
