Operation Just Cause
...for as long as it takes
Observance
by Christina Sharik
He sits beside a tombstone
lost in thought, or prayer
thinking about his buddy
who perished over there;
he bows his head in silence
before he moves away,
and thinks that he's the
lucky one because
he's here today.
No longer lost in silence
he salutes his buddy's grave
remembering his laughter
and the sacrifice he made -
there's nothing more that
he can do and
nothing more to say -
so he wheels himself back
to the car
and slowly drives away .......
